Contraindications
Unfortunately not all treatments are for everyone...
A contraindication is a condition or factor that increases the risks involved in a treatment. Contraindications must be identified to prevent further harm (to you and your therapist) and to prevent cross-contamination and infection.
Please refrain from booking a treatment if any of the below apply to you. If you are unsure, please contact us via email before booking an appointment.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Injectables (eg. Botox and/or filler) within the last 14 days
- Cold sores
- Certain medications (please see below)
- Viral and bacterial infections such as the cold, flu and COVID-19, strep throat (some symptoms include sore throat, runny nose, fever, coughing)
- Eye infections (eg. conjunctivitis, blepharitis)
- Styes
- Scarring (less than 6 months old)
- Unusual and/or undiagnosed swelling, bruising, lumps and bumps
- Cuts and abrasions
- Recent sunburn
- Severe eczema and psoriasis
- Diabetes
- Recent surgeries around the head/face/eyes
- Resurfacing treatments such as skin needling, laser or chemical peels in the last 4 weeks
- Those using prescription strength vitamin A topical treatments
- Those with glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, HPV/hepatitis or skin cancer, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, any bleeding disorders, cancer or currently undergoing chemotherapy
MEDICATIONS THAT ARE CONTRAINDICATIONS TO BEAUTY TREATMENTS:
- Accutane, Roaccutane (Isotretonoin), Doxycycline, Differin, Adapalene, Epiduo, and any other strong acne medications
- Medically prescribed (prescription strength) vitamin A topical treatments such as Retin-A, Retrieve
- Blood thinners
- Antibiotics
- Antihistamines
- Anti-inflammatory drugs
- Anti-fungals
- Medically prescribed painkillers
- Steroids
